

Valeria Umanets
Hello! I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at Tulane University. Before joining Tulane, I was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Pittsburgh. My research interests include women and politics, non-democratic political institutions, historical political economy, and post-Communist states. I earned my Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and my MPhil in Politics from the University of Oxford. My research involves working with archival data, econometric models, elite interviews, and survey experiments. My work has been published in Democratization and by Routledge. My pronouns are she/her/hers.
